Founded in 1998, by Peter & Helen Roberts, Holdfast Mooring & Marine Services is now a second-generation, family-owned and operated small business based in Williamstown, Victoria. With decades of hands-on industry experience, we are trusted specialists in mooring and marine services, delivering reliable solutions across Melbourne’s waterways.

Our versatile low-draw dual-hull barge is equipped with an onboard power generator, high-pressure water washer, and a 3-tonne crane, allowing us to provide a wide range of marine services efficiently and safely. Designed for both strength and accessibility, our compact vessel can easily operate in a variety of areas including mooring fields, yacht clubs, and piers.

​We are a Parks Victoria Authorised Mooring Contractor and the go to mooring contractor in Williamstown. We specialise in the installation, maintenance, and management of moorings. Utilising three decades of experience, we have developed a streamlined process to support mooring holders from uptake to relinquishment and everything in between.

Annual Mooring Inspection & Report
All moorings in Victoria require an annual inspection in order to comply with Parks Victoria permit regulations. This can be a hassle for mooring holders but we’re here to make it easy. As the go-to authorised mooring contractor we provide a comprehensive inspection service to ensure your mooring is secure and compliant.Â

When you arrange an inspection with us, we use our crane to lift your mooring completely out of the water and place it on the deck of our barge. This allows us to thoroughly inspect all components and make accurate decisions to prevent unnecessary replacements and costs.

Every year after your inspection, we will then provide you and Parks Victoria with an official mooring report proving compliance for the next 12 months.
New Mooring Installation
In order to secure a new mooring for your vessel, you must go through the mooring permit application process via Parks Victoria. This includes engaging with an authorised contractor to understand your vessel requirements, a proposed mooring site and the costs associated with the installation.Â

Mooring Transfer & Condition Report
In order to apply for a mooring transfer of ownership, you must follow the steps set by Parks Victoria. This includes employing an authorised contractor like Holdfast to complete an annual mooring inspection in order to produce an annual mooring report and mooring condition report. These must be dated within 42 days of the application date.

During this survey, we will completely lift the mooring out of the water using our crane and place it on the deck of our barge. We will asses the mooring, replace components that aren’t compliant and provide the required reports.

Condition reports may also be required when changing the vessel stored on your mooring.
